Racist Violence in the United Kingdom

This report published by the European Network Against Racism (ENAR) in Brussels, March 2011 reveals shocking statistics about occurrence of racism in the UK. The report shows that “207,000 racial motivated incidents in 2007 have been filed by the British Crime Survey where nearly 80% of the victims of racial violence were men, and 20% were women. “In cases where the ethnicity of the victim was known, over 45% were Asian, 18% black, 10% white British, 7% Polish, 1.25% Chinese and 1.25% from Traveller communities”. “However, these figures do not include majority of racial incidents as the victims might not feel like reporting racist incidents due to lack of confidence in the police, and because they feel that their case would not be taken seriously” the report also illustrates.
