Racism against Chinese population in the UK
This shocking research, which has been conducted in an appropriate methodology in three British Universities, reveals many key points about the presence of racism against Chinese population in the UK .
These key themes can be summarized as below:
1. “Most of respondents in this research suffered various types of racist harassment and violence for a long period of time”.
2. “The racial incidents threatened psychological and physical well-being of the victims and damaged their relationship with white people”.
3. “Almost most of the racial victims were dissatisfied with police services as the police even fail to investigate the reported cases. As a result, the majority of them did not have confidence in the police in the UK . Some of them no longer formally reported racist incidents as they recognize that the police are not willing to actively follow up the racial cases”.

Racial Violence in the UK- The Buried Issue
This comprehensive article reports that “despite a number of deaths over racial disputes in the UK , politicians remain in denial about the extent and severity of racial violence and popular racism”. This research clearly demonstrates that direct and violent racism is well present in the UK .

Racist Violence in the United Kingdom
This report published by the European Network Against Racism (ENAR) in Brussels , March 2011 reveals shocking statistics about occurrence of racism in the UK . The report shows that “207,000 racial motivated incidents in 2007 have been filed by the British Crime Survey where nearly 80% of the victims of racial violence were men, and 20% were women. “In cases where the ethnicity of the victim was known, over 45% were Asian, 18% black, 10% white British, 7% Polish, 1.25% Chinese and 1.25% from Traveller communities”. “However, these figures do not include majority of racial incidents as the victims might not feel like reporting racist incidents due to lack of confidence in the police, and because they feel that their case would not be taken seriously” the report also illustrates.

A report from National Union of Students (NUS) released on 20 May 2011 shows that racism is more widespread than previously assumed in the UK and perceptions of racism are creating barriers to the participation of Black students in further and higher education in British Universities.
Findings in the report entitled ‘Race for Equality’ show that 1 in 6 Black students have experienced racism in their current institution, one third do not trust their institution to properly handle complaints, and one third feel their educational environment leaves them unable to bring their perspective as Black students to lectures and tutorial meetings in British Universities.
The report is the culmination of a two year research project that gathered existing evidence and combined it with new surveys and focus group evidence to understand the experience of Black students in further and higher education.
